Stemmer fra Undergrunden
Visual material inspired from interviews with Sigrid, a politically active girl at 15.
Widely known Danish poem by Tove Ditlevsen turned into a potential slogan: "I am your childhood street. I am your being's beginning" Inspired by the initial interviews with young people whom were asked to name possible interconnections between historic events and their everyday life.
Quote from the initial interviews: "A lot of things that have preoccupied me are ideological things dealing with changing something. Can it be changed? How can it be changed? Should it be changed?" Sigrid, 15 years old.
Example of visual material combining image and text in which new meanings can arise - including a play with the double meaning of the word "Underground" - as in geological/ archaeological and cultural/ sub cultural sense.
Skitsemateriale Sketch material. All words are synonyms of the word "seeing."

One of the participants on archaeology: "I think of men with beards sitting with their small brooms digging in the dirt...you know, something really arid"
De arkæologiske fund i en aktuel kontekst. Archaeological finds in a contemporary context. All these objects relate to smoking and drinking habits - an issue repeatedly discussed as a problematic issue of Danish youth culture.

DESCRIPTION

"Voices from Underground" is a user driven visual communication of the archaeological finds from the running Metro excavations in Copenhagen.
The project seeks to build bridge between the analogue, historic artefacts presented by a cultural historical museum and a younger generation and their special prerequisites for sharing knowledge within a social network.
The project is based on qualitative interviews and presents visual experiments, user involving workshops, a Web TV programme featuring participators in the age group - as well as a layout for a web page and site-specific communication of the finds by means of smartphone applications.
The project is presented as an illustrated publication as well - including a theoretical approach, based on qualitative interviews, case studies within public service TV - programmes and similar outreach projects, which are put into perspective by contemporary theory on new digital media, network society and formation of identity .

The project is developed in collaboration with Museum of Copenhagen.
